Newton County Resources

FaithWorks

Offers up to $150 in rent or utility assistance once per year, with a lifetime limit of three occurrences.

How to Apply:

  • In-person applications only

  • Open Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:00 AM–11:00 AM

  • Bring photo ID, Social Security cards for all household members, proof of income, and documentation of bills or lease

Partnership for Community Action

Provides emergency rent/mortgage/utility assistance and annual energy assistance through the LIHEAP program.

How to Apply:

  • Applications accepted online or by phone

  • Required documents: photo ID, Social Security cards, income verification for last 30 days, current heating/electric bills

Salvation Army of Covington

Limited assistance for rent, mortgage, or utility payments (once in a lifetime). Subject to available monthly funds.

How to Apply:

  • In-person application required

  • Visit Tuesday–Thursday, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM

  • Assistance may not cover entire bill

Offers 50% off the monthly service charge for qualifying low-income senior residents.

  • Must be 65 or older

Jasper County DFCS (TANF Program)

Provides limited cash assistance to qualifying low-income families with dependent children.

Georgia Rental Assistance Program (Statewide)

Available to eligible households in any Georgia county experiencing difficulty paying rent or utilities due to COVID-related hardship.

How to Apply:

  • Visit Georgia Rental Assistance online or call state helpline

  • Required documents include lease, ID, income proof, and utility bills

Tips When Applying:

  • Always bring a valid photo ID and Social Security cards for household members

  • Provide income documentation for the last 30 days

  • Be prepared to explain your financial hardship

  • Some programs have waitlists or limited funding windows
